Aligned to the new NDIS Practice Standards

Four new standards. How they shape our SIL homes.

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has strengthened the SIL Practice Standard with four focus areas. Below is what each one means, and the concrete ways we've built them into how our homes operate.

Choice and Control

Participants lead decisions about their home — from who supports them and when, to how the household is run day-to-day. We build service agreements that make choice visible and reviewable, not assumed.

In our homes

House meetings, individualised routines, roster preferences, and a documented decision-making support plan for each participant.

Service Agreements with SIL Participants

A clear, accessible agreement between the participant and provider — what's included, what's not, cost apportionment in shared homes, and how disagreements are handled.

In our homes

Plain-language SIL service agreements, Easy Read summaries on request, and a formal onboarding walk-through before any support commences.

Responsive Support Provision

Support that flexes with the participant — including after-hours changes, health events, behaviour support needs and transitions — without gaps or handover risk.

In our homes

Consistent staff matching, 24/7 on-call clinical governance, documented shift handovers and integration with allied health and behaviour support plans.

Service Environment (Suitable Living Space)

The home itself must be safe, accessible, and a place the participant genuinely wants to live — not a facility. Compatibility with co-tenants is treated as a real risk, not an afterthought.

In our homes

Home selection with the participant, tenant compatibility assessments, accessibility upgrades where needed, and regular environment reviews.

Want a deeper walk-through of how the four new standards apply in a specific home or plan? Our team can talk it through with participants, families and Support Coordinators.
