Accessibility

Information your way.

We believe everyone should be able to understand our information, access our services, and communicate with us in the way that works best for them.

Our commitment

We will meet you where you are.

Access for everyone

We design our website, documents and communication so that people with disability, carers, families and support networks can find what they need.

Language is not a barrier

Our team speaks more than 15 languages. We can arrange interpreters, including Auslan, and translate information into community languages.

Hearing and communication

We welcome calls via the National Relay Service, video calls with captions, and can communicate by email, SMS or your preferred channel.

Vision and reading

We can provide information in large print, high-contrast, screen-reader friendly formats, or as Easy Read documents with plain language and pictures.

How to request support

Ask us in any way that suits you.

There is no single right way to reach us. Tell us what you need and how you prefer to communicate, and we will arrange it.

Phone

Call your coordinator or our main office. We can speak slowly, use an interpreter, or follow up in writing.

Email

Email us with the format you need and we will reply within two business days.

SMS or chat

Text your coordinator or use the contact form on our website. Tell us the easiest way for you to communicate.

On paper

Ask us to send a printed form, letter or Easy Read plan. We can post it or hand it to you in person.

Alternative formats

Information in the format you need.

We can adapt our brochures, plans, agreements and reports into formats that are easier for you to read, hear or understand. If you do not see the format you need, please ask — we will do our best to arrange it.

  • Easy Read documents with plain language and pictures
  • Large print, high-contrast or colour-adjusted documents
  • Audio recordings of written information
  • Translated information in community languages
  • Auslan interpreting or video with captions
  • One-on-one phone or video explanation with a coordinator
  • In-person visit or meeting with a support person welcome

Our website

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. This includes clear headings, readable text, keyboard-friendly navigation, visible focus, and text alternatives for images. If you find something difficult to use, please let us know so we can improve it.

Help us keep improving.

Accessibility is ongoing. If you have feedback, an idea, or a request we have not thought of, we want to hear it. Your experience helps us make AHHC better for everyone.

Getting started

Ready when you are. No pressure.

Give us a call or send a message and you'll speak with one coordinator who stays with you. We'll talk through what you want support with, what your funding covers, and what it would actually cost — before you commit to anything.
